unknown error while generating new reg key

Thanks for the help - I thought I had disabled my firewall but apparently not... gave that a shot and that did the trick w/ registering the 4.0 key.

Re: the custom data/settings directory - I DID choose a custom install, but I had selected to install for my current user account as opposed to all user accounts, so I re-installed selecting "All user accounts" and that did the trick.
