Text editor with REFRESH menu command

SCENARIO:
When we login to a server and navigate to a certain folder where a TEXT file sits there, we select it and then press CTRL+V to view it [or thru right-click context menu]. FlashFXP's text editor pops up as soon as file is downloaded and it displays the contents of text file.

Then we navigate away from the folder where the text file resides. We KEEP text editor open.

REQUEST:
It would be nice to have a REFRESH function in editor's menu which would refresh the content of the file to its current state without the need of navigating to its folder. This is very useful especially when one is frequently dealing with LOG files or alike, files which change rapidly.

Re: Text editor with REFRESH menu command

This is possible via the "Active Edits" window.

When you edit a remote file it is added to the Active Edits window and this window provides a way to manage them.

Click ReDownload to refresh the file from the server.

The Active Edits window allows you to manage multiple remote edits at any one time.

If the Active Edits window is closed you can open it via the main menu > View > Active Edits

Re: Text editor with REFRESH menu command

Then I presume when you CTRL+E any file in FTP client, it downloads the file in question, opens it with its associated software. And once file is saved and closed [fclose], client checks for the usage lock status [flock] : if no lock is in place, it uploads the edited version and deletes it from TEMP folder. Did I get it right? If so, I guess this Feature request is unnecessary after all. You guys have done all the work, thanks...

Re: Text editor with REFRESH menu command

It depends a lot on the actual editor being used, some editors are capable of editing multiple documents at the same time, so the editing application may already be open, or not require closing.

We use a couple different methods depending on the situation. So far we have not experienced any problems with our solutions.
