Characters Unsupported via FlashFXP 5.40 (3954) on Windows 10

ftp://grandis.nu/~Uploads/amiga_fore...iga%20Remixes/

Removed username / password ... I can provide again privately if needed.

This folder contains filenames that FLASHFXP seems to have difficulties downloading (navigating / viewing filenames seems ok). Once the file tries to download, it fails and resulting in a 0 byte file on my client side being created. If I login via Chrome browser, I am able to download the file.

The following files appeared to be the ones FlashFXP had problems with (chrome / Windows 10 seemed to cope ok with these) :

Aki Järvinen - Beyond The Ice Palace (metal version).mp3
Aki Järvinen - Cabal metal remake.mp3
Aki Järvinen - Chuck Rock metal remix.mp3
Aki Järvinen - Golden Axe first level metal remake.mp3
Aki Järvinen - Golden axe_ Path of fiend metal remix.mp3
Aki Järvinen - Last Ninja 2 metal remix.mp3
Aki Järvinen - R-Type Title.mp3
Aki Järvinen - Turrican 2 - The Final Challenge.mp3

Aki Järvinen - Turrican 2 Desert Rocks metal remake.mp3
Aki Järvinen - Turrican 2 Intro metal remix.mp3
Aki Järvinen - Turrican 2 Secret Dungeons metal version.mp3
Aki Järvinen - Turrican 2 The Wall (metal remix).mp3
Aki Järvinen - Turrican 3 Guitar Remix.mp3
Aki Järvinen - Turrican II - Desert Rocks (metal version 1.1).mp3
Andreas Wallström and NecroPolo - Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards.mp3
daXX - Cebit ´90 Demo - Cream of the Earth.mp3
Dr.Future - Wings Of Death (Discover Gravity) [Level 1] feat. Péter Nagy-Miklós.mp3

Mr.Mephisto - Hard´n´Heavy Stage 3 (Let´s get heavy mix).mp3
Psheiko - Psheikos Ghouls ´n´ Ghost Remix.mp3

Also, to add to this list ... the following file fails in FlashFXP ... but IE downloads, and the OS accepts all the characters.

Re: Characters Unsupported via FlashFXP 5.40 (3954) on Windows 10

I suspect that the problem is due to the Character Encoding.
Open the Site Manager > Select the site > Options tab > Character Encoding

You can try each one until you get it to work, After applying the change you may need to disconnect and reconnect to the server and then refresh the directory for the change to take effect.

Also you'll probably need to re-queue any items in the transfer queue.

If you can provide me the user/password via a private message I can help determine the exact Character Encoding needed to transfer the files, or determine if there is any other problems preventing the transfer.

Re: Characters Unsupported via FlashFXP 5.40 (3954) on Windows 10

A solution that worked for me was to force the character encoding to UTF-8.

Site Manager > Select the site > Options tab > Character Encoding > UTF-8

Click the Apply button and then connect to the site.

By forcing FlashFXP to use UTF-8 the files can now be downloaded.

Re: Characters Unsupported via FlashFXP 5.40 (3954) on Windows 10

Hi,

That seemed to do the trick ... although, I had tried Auto-Detect to see if that made guesses to which to choose automatically next time... but it didnt seem to like that. So hopefully UTF-8 should work for this particular site.

The only problem I had was with the file in : /~Uploads/Sea7/Tosec UNK/
Its file name is : Mercenary100%(Galahad).zip

If I queue the file, it appears in the list correct... however, when I click transfer queue it alters it to :

Source Name / Target Name : Mercenary100Galahad.zip and the queue entry name changes to reflect the new altered name.

Do you have any ideas I can try?

Many thanks for the support.

Re: Characters Unsupported via FlashFXP 5.40 (3954) on Windows 10

Thank you for pointing out this issue with the filename Mercenary100%(Galahad).zip

You have discovered a new and unexpected bug in our date token parser.

Specifically when the information contained within %() does not contain a valid date token then the filename should remain unchanged but due to this bug the filename is mangled and the %() token is stripped out.

Below is a beta release that resolves the issue

https://www.flashfxp.com/get/ffxp5.4.0.3956.zip

Download the zip and then unzip the FlashFXP.exe into your FlashFXP program folder replacing the existing FlashFXP.exe and the problem should be resolved.

Re: Characters Unsupported via FlashFXP 5.40 (3954) on Windows 10

That seems to have worked its magic.

When you mentioned date/time parser ... I noticed something else that might be related. So for now, I will close this ticket and open a new one for the new issue and mentioning this ticket ID as a possible relation (might be a red herring though).

Re: Characters Unsupported via FlashFXP 5.40 (3954) on Windows 10

For clarification I was referring to this feature below and the malfunction resulted in the %() part being stripped from the file name.

Date Time Tokens

What are date and time tokens?

Date and time tokens allow the user to substitute part of the path or file name with the date or time.

The date time token is defined by %( ) and within this token you can use the format variables shown below....
