Hi Bigstar, with so many new features added, please add the following features which IMHO are a must for a tremendous FTP client like FlashFXP :

a) Multiple connections per IP
b) A speed slider/controller to increase or decrease speed .
c) An inbuilt transfer meter ( like DU Meter )
d) An inbuilt SFV checker for checking of files downloaded against a .sfv situated in the downloading folder .

A Basic FTP user like me needs all these stuffs only . I dunno what the heck is FEAT or HEAD , I only like to have more basic controls and an autochecking facility for my simple purposes. The above points are related to that only .

the built-in SFV issue was addressed before so many times... i think the main argument is that an ftp client is used for FTPing. a SFV checker is used for SFV checking. it makes sense to me

You have a good point there, but for many people built-in SFV checking is just much easier. I have heard many conversations about this, but i don't think i heard Bigstars opinion about it
Maybe this is the time to do so?

Hmmm a car is only to drive, not to illuminate it's front road while driving at night !!

Perhaps the above would have been a valid argument 50 years ago, not now. IMHO if lights makes driving a more convinient , even though street lights are there for illuminating the road, .sfv inbuilt checking makes any FTP client a better one even though .sfv checkers are there . Ultimately, the end user should be given the option whether to turn the car llights on or use the street lights while driving at night. Similarly the end FTP client user like me would like to have a choice whether to use an inbuilt sfv checker or use a seperate .sfv checker to solve the file verification job. Those who don't like an inbuilt .sfv checker can always turn it off .

Here's a good application related example. FlashGet , the best download manager on Planet Earth. Not only it supports HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/MMS downloading, it also has a Site explorer, which in a sense is somewhat like a FTP client although you can only download, and that makes the life heel lot easier for many FlashGet users .

I normally don't comment much on future plans but since this seems to come up alot, let me assure you that sfv checking is on the to-do list. We haven't been very outcoming with this because everyone has a different opinion on how sfv checking should work, our intent is to provide basic sfv support and not the hundred and one features seen in most sfv checkers.

Partha, in the future please follow forum format, ie suggestions go in Suggestions Forum and not into 1st thread that you just happened to be reading.

Hi Shark, you mean the feature to use two or more threads in a single FTP session is possible ? If yes , say I want to download file.rar from a particular FTP Site, where do I enter the value "2" or "3" so that file.rar is downloaded from the FTP using three threads simultaniously to maximize my download speed ?

Sorry, I misread... Obviously shouldn't post replies in the early hours of the morning

That suggestion is currently being considered.

a: There's a reason to why most ftp's limit to "1 connection per IP"

b: Yea... going into options->tranfer and setting a number for allowed speed is so painfull.

c: I got nothing there.

d: Actually been brought up before, several times.. you can setup an event to run external sfv checker. (Don't bother commenting about 'I want it to re-queue if it failed' crap. You wont die having to redownload a file again manual later.)

It's in one of the other dozen threads about sfv checking. I didn't pay much attention to it since I don't find launching an external sfv checking to be a major problem to my ftp experience.

Hmm, u mean other than the 'statistics' tab in the site manager? if so please explain how your suggestion would be different than the tracking feature already in place.

a: I know that, but in some FTP you may be allowed 2 or more threads simultaniously. In those FTPs I want to use those multiple threads simultaniously. I as a user should have the option to set the no. of threads per FTP site in the way I want.

b: A speed slider controller makes life hell lot easier. See FlashGet's speed side controller as an example ( w*w.amazesoft.com)

c: ...

d: Even bigstar says it is on to-do list. People who like it use it, others don't .

I mean a real-time bar-graph m8 that conviniently shows your upload/download bandwidth utilisation only for FlashFXP, nothing remotely related to Statistics tab. Look what is a real-time graph for the entire internet connection here w*w.dumeter.com. But DU Meter shows bandwidth utilisation for all applications taken together ( say FlashFXP + FlashGet + Opera + IE +...) . I want a real-time graph for FlashFXP only inside FlashFXP , perhaps over the queue window . I hope now I sound clear ?

even tho he said it's on todo list, you can still use basic event-triggers in flashfxp to launch your own sfv checker.
