there is no spyware in FlashFXP

that's pretty crappy firewall you are using that doesn't display program name but what looks like memory address. what firewall is that?

I'm having the same problem with Zone Alarm. Apparently that message means "ZoneAlarm Pro is asking you whether to allow Flash-fxp to act as a server--that is, to accept connection requests from other computers". I've been denying it access and would like to know if I should be granting it access instead instead.

Does anyone know why FlashFXP would ask for server rights ?

Thanks
Hairbag

I have had that problem too, and I have always had ZAP deny server rights to FlashFXP. What I find odd is that it refers to it as object-something.

Yea I used to search the registry and all my hard drives for reference to Object and could never find anything. Couldn't figure what it was. If you look under "Alerts and logs" in Zone Alarm, and look under "Log viewer" you'll find reference to it under "programs." click More info and the web site will tell you that it's Flash FXP asking for server rights.

i never really understood Zone Alarm's definition of "server".
it seem to ask that for some very strange programs like Miranda IM..
seems like any program that can accept connections is labled as "server"

FlashFXP does have an ident server. and depending on type of config(PASV or PORT) FlashFXP can accept connections.

make sure you are running latest available version of ZoneAlarm

So does that mean then that if Passive is disabled and an incoming connection is sent from the FTP site, Zone alarms protection is still secure if the connection is allowed through ?

Also if the connection is denied access, will the FTP site disconnect.

Thanks

MxxCon thanks for the reply. That's what I thought after Hairbag mentioned server rights.

For ZoneAlarm, any program that tries to accept connections of any kind is classified as a server.

Also, FYI I believe I'm running the latest build of ZAP, 3.5.195 or something like that (I only run it at home).

It's not an "anty piracy check" or anything like that.
"Object: ***** only means "ZoneAlarm Pro is asking you whether to allow Flash-fxp to act as a server--that is, to accept connection requests from other computers". I've been in contact with tech at FlashFXP and they inform me that by allowing "Object: **** (FlashFXP) to conect "You still have the same level of
protection, you're just telling ZoneAlarm that you're aware of the incoming
connection and it's ok to accept it."
