I think that it would be nice if password protection for site manager could be configured by folder: like not protecting the "root folder", but a "private subfolder".

By instance, at work, i've got a "work" folder and a "private" folder, and i don't want to password protect the "work" folder.

For the interface, a tiny checkbox in the site manager to "disable" password protection on a folder (and maybe an option to disable it / not disable it) on all the subfolders.

What about it ?

that does sound good. With that option/setup, you could do-away with having the password to load flash all together

The problem that comes to my mind is that the current password system is a global protection. The password is also needed to start flashfxp.

It would be nice to implement a 'soft' password protection, that can be activated without protecting the whole application.

...

In fact, this is turning in my mind to something like a multiuser flashFXP, where you got by default a set of sites accessible through the site manager, and a different set of sites when you enter a login.

Don't you think this would be a nice feature in a near / less near future ? So that you don't have to create multiple copy of FlashFXP when several people are using a computer...

yes i do think this would be nice. Will be interesting to see what Bigstar says about this one when he logs on

This was are original idea but I realized there were too many problems with this type of design to make it viable.

password protecting a folder wouldn't provide any protection at all and could easily be disabled.

The only way to prevent this was to encrypt the entire file.
