this feature is being considered.
it's a good security measure. but at the same time i can be a nightmare.
imagine you didn't set master password and somebody else locked you out of your sites:(...so there should be a switch to disable master password completely, but what if you want to reenable it at a later time...
perhaps if you, or anybody else, can think through these features to prevent problems stated above it could be added...:p

master password for programe or password feature. can only be set by administrator...
or admin user..
or you make it like this if you dont have password you can make a new database..
like a database pr user..
just like cute ftp pro

Yes, and a prompt to set the "administrator" password on install would be a perfect solution to never getting "locked out".
This is on the to-do list :)

Well no that wouldn't work.
If there's an administrator password there would be no way to prevent someone from resetting it.
My idea is very simple and it would work for the most part similar to cuteftp pro.
The problem however is as mxxcon said, There needs to be some way to prevent anyone from setting a password and locking the original user out. There may not be a perfect solution.
I'm not sure how cuteftp pro handles command line connecting but I have to wonder how it's handled. If a password is required to access FlashFXP a automated command line connection would not be possible.
It will use a 64bit blowfish cipher. I have already created a wrapper for my IniFile routines.

just a thought:
why not set a password when the user first starts flashfxp and NO entries in site manager are set - if entries in sites.dat (or however that file was called) were found (for example after an update) the user has to type in his password
just my two cents

This has already been decided and implemented.
It was added in build 845.
