Page fault in kernel32.dll when using nero

Hi,

I get a page fault in kernel32.dll when I use Nero.
The fault appears when the CD is burnt and ejected.
I am using latest FlashFxp 1.4.3 b835 and Nero 5.5.5.6, a Traxdata 24x CD Writer.
Maybe the problem is my new Windows 98 *SE*.
It's an ASUS A7V266-E (VIA-chipset) mainboard.
I have a creative DVD, too.

this is an issue with nero and your OS or burner...flashfxp would not cause such an error...are you putting it in here because its caused ONLY when flashfxp is running and you burn a cd?

I don't understand the question, sorry. The error occurs always when burning and using flashfxp at the same time.

I realized that when the mediaplayer7 is playing a mpeg from drive E: I can't switch to the drive E: in FlashFXP and even get a similar error.
Maybe it's a problem with the Desktop/Drive Update Routine?
It may be a MS Problem, not a FlashFXP problem.

I thought perhaps the problem is known.
At the moment I avoid burning and ftp'ing at the same time.

Let me guess, your devices are mainly IDE? They use technology that is poorly suited for multi-tasking, especially related to "heavy" use, such as burning CDs, while transferring files.

This isn't so much a bug as it is a limitation imposed by your hardware.

No, you probably aren't right, as the problem occurs when the burning process has completely finished. There is no big data transfer anymore. I think it has to do something with the refresh of the Drive list.

Maybe I should use another OS, sure. I should downgrade to Win98. :-)

I think it has to do something with the refresh of the Drive list.Yes, there's a refresh of the drive-list, but more importantly, when a streaming-task such as burning a CD is complete, the system will start to flush its caches, both on the devices and the system in general. The error clearly indicates that it is a central system-request that fails.

As MxxCon pointed out, Win9x may be less favorable if you plan to use your machines for anything beyond surfing the web, so yes, if possible, do upgrade. Either Windows 2000 or Windows XP will behave much better in the scenarios described earlier.
