Bigstar, this has been mentioned some time ago, are you still considering it?
By having some sort of "colour" or maybe a popup of the tray icon when a connection is made. I know there is an option to play a sound when a connection is made, but dont really like having this feature for every instance of flash or a permantly turned on.
So maybe a toolbar button or right-click option where you can turn on "sound", another colour of the tray icon, or something else to alert you when a connection is made?

Hmm? In Windows 2000 and XP both the taskbar-icon aswell as the tray-icon can be setup to flash on any action that would require a reaction, such as the end of a transfer, or a sucessfull connection. Are you saying this isn't normal? ;)

1) Where is the setup action for it?
2) yes the tray icon does flash after your queu is finished, (sucessfull connection, it doesn't??)

Hmm, the options says it flashes only on completed transfers, I suppose bigstar might consider changing it to apply to any situation requireing attention, although I suspect the end-result might be something of a real pain.

This has come up in the past and I offered to add icon status states, different colors/icons, or whatever. however I am not a graphic arist and the original artist is not longer availible to make new icons. Until I can find someone to make us some nice icons this feature is on hold.

Well I really don't care what they look like. But I'm sure the users will have some requests :)
I dont have time right now but if you search the board you can probably find the previous threads where this was discussed.

Midnight, i would love to just see some different colors of the current tray icon...so i always know 1 is green, 2 is red, 3 is blue, etc...would really be nice when you have 3-4 instances of flashfxp open. Or, something even better, that could be extended to something like, its green when connected, red when disconnected, yellow when trying to connect :)

I just did a search and I came up empty on the different icons for different states.. Must of been lost during the message board relocation.
Hmm Linkster that's not exactly what I had in mind. I was thinking different icons for different states.
1. not connected
2. connected
3. transferrring

I believe that different colour tray icons as mentioned would be excellent.
I have Flash set to alert me with a "Connected" sound upon connection, and keep most copies of FlashFXP running in the tray.
To be able to instantly see which ones are connected/not connected/downloading from the tray would be great.
Whilst on this subject, I have another feature which I have always thought would be useful for the tray. That would be to be able to use the "speed limit" option directly by right-clicking on the tray icon. Anyone else think this would be useful?
In fact, just being able to right-click the tray icon and state "obey speed limit" would be useful. I don't have a slow 56K connection any more; but when I did I wanted Flash to download at a slower rate whilst browsing the net, and then reset to normal speed when I didn't need the bandwidth so much.

yes that would be very nice. I also want to see the "disconnect", "Reconnect" and/or, "abort", "GO" in the tray too. Which would be used as a similiar fashion.
Some difference between plain FTP and FXP would be nice too.

dont push it too far, i know bigstar isn't all that crash on the idea anyway. And we dont want a huge clumsy list on right-click anyway
I mean that the icon should be diff. if it's a ftp transfer or fxp.

Towards what end? A transfer is a transfer is a transfer.

yes, and if you hover over it, it will tell you if its an fxp or ftp because it will say blah to blah2, etc

Heh, yes, but both will give a signal once they're done, and that's really all that matters, right? FXPs doesn't give any real indications of when it's done anyhow, just a very tentative estimate based on the preceeding files.
Well, could not you ask whoever designed the new icons to simply change the colors of the tray icons? I can't imagine it would be very hard, although my graphic experience is scant at best.
