set up problem with an site

I'm going to attempt to reinterpret what you said, as I seem to be having trouble understanding you.

"When I set up my mate's site, it comes up with an IP number and then his IP address. What would be the cause of this?"

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't see a problem with that. :confused:

A few things, though. You mention "ip no" and "ip add" as if they are different things... could you be more specific? (Examples would be good)

Your "mates site"... is it an ftp server? What software is it running?

what i mean is when i set up the site it ask's for ip add,,,port,,,then after i have saved it and then try to connect it shows an ip number where it says winsock 2.0 that as no reference to is ip add.
he is running win2000 and i am running win xp.
