the ftp is not on my computer i am just trying to access it from my computer.
I have ports forwarded 1024-1050 for passive mode of an ftp i have, but thats not the problem.
my buddy's ftp is on a computer at his college and i dont know what kind of firewall/router etc. they have, and i dont think he is permited to open ports.
is there a way not to use passive mode, but instead use binary or something?

This is all explained in the thread provided by mxxcon.
It tells you exactly how to disable passive mode and what you need to do to make it work.

i do disable passive mode, unless there is more than one place to disable it.
i disable it on toggles. is there anywhere else?

did you also set the port range, External IP address, and configure your router? You need to do that.

the same thing happened as before after i opened portson my router. But remember that my computer is not the computer that is hosting the ftp.
Is there a way to turn passive mode off completely?Or do i need to get another program that can turn it off completely? Know of any?

your log shows
PORT 24,128,53,135,4,115
200 PORT Command successful.
flashfxp sent PORT command
which means PASV MODE IS *DISABLED*
if PASV mode was on, it would look something like
PASV
227 Entering Passive Mode (192,48,96,9,48,134)
Active mode (PORT command) is usefull is SERVER can't open ports and must connect to the client, which is exactly your situation.
http://slacksite.com/other/ftp.html is a very good and detailed explanation of how PASV and PORT command work.
