hi!

I have got an idea !

Why not link the ftp:// to flashfxp ?

I mean, when you click on a link in browser to a ftp:// site, the internet explorer tries to open the ftp site.
But I would like FlashFXP to open the link.

ed2k:// links are opened with edonkey for example, so why not link ftp:// to flashfxp ?

would be a great feature ! http://forum.flashfxp.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

Yep, this would be great indeed, however i can remember that Bigstar said he didn't know how to do it, and was open for suggestions to implement it. Correct me if i'm wrong though ;)

I tried to make my windows open ftp links in ffxp.

Start=>RUN=>ftp://localhost/
FFXP opens and connects to localhost...this works fine. :)

/HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/ftp/
there you can edit it...

but there is a problem:
I wasnt able to make the IE open hyperlinks to ftp sites in ffxp.
The IE uses its integrated ftp viewer for all ftp links.

ftp:// hyperlinks in IE is tricky, We're currently trying to figure out how this is done, if anyone has any information or examples I'd love some help. I can be reached at support@flashfxp.com

I'm pretty sure WS_FTP has this capablity.

There is an option during install "Enable WS_FTP Pro Internet Explorer Browser Integragtion," and a whole Browser Integration options set.

Can't you just enable clipboard monitoring and copy the link ?

I tried this and it works, but FlashFXP did something strange when the site is busy which I will report in the Bugs forum.

I believe those programs use a hook dll to detect mouse clicks on FTP links but I am not sure. I think I saw such a dll in SmartFTP (but don't quote me on that... I tried a lot of different FTP programs recently to make a recommendation for my work so I might be confusing).

I believe SmartFTP, CuteFTP and WS_FTP do this.

We hope to support Internet Explorer ftp:// links in FlashFXP v2.2. We're currently working on this.
