Auto RAW Commands and such!
How about a thing like SmartFTP has! it has all that stuff auto put in there based on server to server! maybe something like that and other widely/commanly used commands.

Several users were maintaining a list of all those commands but it became out dated and I was forced to remove it.
Perhaps someone will step up and make a new list of commands?

What actual use is such a list? Examples? I'd guess the list is already public, in your favorite RFC archive.

what Slinger and bigstar are refering to is ftpd specific commands, like:
SITE ADDUSER %d[Username] %d[Password] %d[ident@ip]
SITE GADDUSER %d[Group] %d[Username] %d[Password] %d[iden@ip]
SITE CHFLAG %d[Username:] %d[Flag ?] %d[Set to YES or NO]
these commands are ftpd specific and need to be maintained fairly regularly to keep them up-to-date.
nothing major or technical, just fair amount of copy/paste :)
wanna do it? ;)

Yea, I already knew that, but you're still not explaining why it's the client's responsibility to keep such an updated list and make it public. I'm thinking all you should do is make sure ffxp has all the oddball commands and leave it up to the respective ftp-servers to make known which commands they support, if any.

this could be an argument of a chicken and an egg.
however i think it's up to ftp client/user to keep such commands.
for one, developers of *nix/mac os have no way of adding commands to FlashFXP becuase it won't run on their os.
if you download latest command set from one ftpd, it will overwrite all other commands.
plus some users don't need admin command set..

Since you're an egg-connoisseur. which came first, the egg or the chicken? :p

Eh? If those OS' can't run ffxp, what need would they have of adding commands? You're SO missing the point. Let me reiterate: Charles adds any and all commands he comes across to ffxp, so that if the server, regardless of OS, supports them, they'll work within ffxp. Still, it's the server that has to make those commands etc. known to the users, not the client. it's not ffxp that's at fault if a site command fails, unless it's added wrong, but that's beside the scope of the thread.

? My babelfish is disabled.

Again, that's the server's task, not the client's.

I believe mxxcon was referering to that if each ftp server created a flashfxp compatible command list, installing one would overwrite another. And that the ftp author should be the one creating any such command list for FlashFXP..
Surely I'm not going to take on this task again. I spent several days adding custom commands for each ftp server, only to find most users were confused about why they didn't work and why command X which works on one server work on another. On top that I had no idea ftp servers would actually command syntax down the road. Most people don't pay attention to what ftp server software they connect to.
In the end the majority of the commands I added didn't work. No one wanted to redo the list. Simple solution.. remove the default command list.

I think, in a roundabout way, you said pretty much what I said, that ffxp should just send the site commands to the server unaltered, and let the server deal with the potential problems. Much, much easier. ;)
