I have been trying to try this software before I purchase a different one but everytime I try and download( from any site) I get the following

ERROR 404

Yes, they're very mch still in business. I don't know why that link would fail, but get the latest beta-build from the public-beta forum in the interim. It should work just as well if not better than build 800.

Tucows has been having problems....we are trying to work on it, but they are very unresponsive and slow. We have way too many downloads to host them ourselves, even if there are many mirrors.

I just tried to download and had no problems, although it sent me to a different mirror than the one you are reporting. I don't know how it is "choosing" the mirror. The page where you get to choose your own mirror no longer shows up...

I'm gussing you can override it by holding down the shift-key as you left-click the link to download.

Truly bizarre..no matter what, tucows sends me to http://webusenet-ny.tucows.com/adnload/195152_86967.html

What do others get?

Uh, I'm using IE6 and with and without shift Tucows lets me pick the region I'd like to download from, even down to a specific country, and then give me a detailed list of direct URLs to the program. All in all, as sane as I'd expect it to be? The starter URL is http://download.tucows.com/perl/window95.html?Target=/adnload/195152_86967.html

Tucows is working on a auto load balancing system, which will direct users to the closest download mirror automatically. I believe this is done based on IP. However they are still working the bugs out. From time to time I have been notified of periods where people were unable to download FlashFXP.

:) Thanks!! to cgocable.tucows.com.. I can finally download it. People that put their programs on tucows should make them aware of the problem.. If they are picking the closest isp for me then they should insist on all of the isp's to be current.
Thanks again to all
:p

what exactly do you mean by secure?
ftp protocol exactly same on all ftp clients..
sites passwords are encrypted and are not displayed in clear text anywhere in the client..

I guess I would mean is it as secure as ws_ftp pro, especially from password hackers.

Thanks
BTW I am on a norton personal firewall which seems to help quite a bit.

as far as storing passwords they seem to be encrypted against the site information so the encrypted pass is different every time

as for client -> server password, its just the same no encrytion its all sent as clear text and anybody with a packet sniffer can find it :)

however, if you connect to a server that supports s/key md5, etc then your password is only sent once unencrypted. From then on it sends a key that only the server can decrypt.

how's ws_ftp pro secure? it's passwords can be retrived just like any other ftp client.
