Im using FXP version 2.0 (build 906)
My OS is Windows XP Pro w/ Service Pak 1
Connection type : ADSL
Currently not behind firewall/router
Here is my issue, I have a Win2k Server running regular old Windows FTP service. When I try to connect to it usnig FlashFXP I get the error,
"150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for /bin/ls.
425 Can't open data connection."
That error is with passive mode disabled.
With passive mode enabled, I get the error,
"PASV
227 Entering Passive Mode (10,232,158,135,4,122).
LIST
426 Connection closed; transfer aborted."
I can connect with other FTP programs with no problem (WS FTP etc ..)
Please help, and thanks in advance!

paste status log with program that doesn't have this problem and we'll be able to tell you how to fix flashfxp.

actually i got it fixed shortly after i posted this message. I have to set passive to off (since im currently not behind a firewall or router) then i had to bind sockets to my external IP. after that it works flawlessly. not sure why flash has to have this and other programs dont, but oh well!

For reference do you know what software the ftp server is using?

To use passive mode, you may need to check an option in the site manager, "site uses ipmasq/nat/non-routable ip"
If you have time please check this option and let me know if passive mode works. Thanks.

I must say you are awesome. That works, I no longer have to bind sockets to my outside IP, that setting that you told me to change works perfectly!
Thanks!!

Perhaps FlashFXP should do some auto detection here, maybe this type of problem could be avoided. It's to late to make the change for v2.1 but i'll start looking into it and it for the next release.

Sounds good to me. I know that a few friends of mine have also had the same problem, but I have happily spread the word of the fix to them. Again, thanks for your help, I really appriciate it!

I've done some research and perhaps this feature should be added into v2.1. The logic behind the idea shoudn't cause any problems.
Perhaps wsftp already uses this type of logic and that is why you didn't need to adjust any settings to get wsftp to work.

Im just happy to have the answer to it. It would be awesome to have it put into 2.1, but whenever you all get around to it works for me.
Thanks! :)
