Fxp² ?

I'm having the opposite problem that's being pointed out in this topic (http://forum.flashfxp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2841).

I want FXP's to be routed through my local connection, because when I try to FXP normally, I get an error stating connections are only accepted from my IP.

Would it be possible for the files to "pass through" my connection on the way to the destination host?

This would save me time downloading them all manually and then uploading them.

Any info/suggestions appreciated :)

queue all the files you want to a dir on local drive, and then queue that dir for upload.

You can just setup a local wingate, then you should be able to fxp through your connection :)

Wouldn't this possibly corrupt the files, if it's trying to read the same file it's writing ?

it won't read at the same time as writing.
flashfxp will 1st download que'd files and then upload them.

The queue would only transfer the files that were in there at the time the directory was placed in the queue, would it not? Then, as files were downloaded, they wouldn't be automatically queued for upload.

Or am I missing something blatantly obvious? (Please forgive my ignorance, FTP issues are relatively new to me)

if you want to fix that error tell site admin to enable fxp transfers(or disable bounce attack protection, sometimes it's called like that)

otherwise think of what you are suggesting as just manually downloading those files to your computer and then uploading them to wherever...

Mxx, I think the bases of Jay's confusion is his assumption you're helping him find some other method than "downloading and then uploading", that is similar to FXP and works in one shot.Originally posted by Jay

Jay, No, there aren't any other options unless you find a proxy type bounce program (wingate?) that automatically forwards the data as it arrives.

Yeah, Wingate is a proxy server, essentially if you allow remote connections to wingate you can connect to both servers through it and fxp.

the data will pass through your own connection, so both servers see the control and data connection IP as being one and the same, which allows you to fxp where you couldn't before.

it can be a bit tricky to setup, you need to allow connections on any interface and it would be smart to not use the default port 21

Keep in mind that an open wingate on your system can be scanned and used by anyone, so only turn it on when you need to use it.

Thanks for the replies, had hoped to find out something that could help me out via FTP, but I guess I'm going to have to rely on SSH access for site transfers.

most *dumb/out dated* transparent ftp proxies will usually make site to site transfers go thru your connection, this is because they don't know about site to site transfer and assume all PORT commands should match your ip. A feature..

I've never come across a proxy that did this but i recall many many problems with them in the past from user reports, I'll see if I can dig up some names.
