need help hooking up xbox to pc

hey, i'm trying to hook up my xbox to my pc using a crossover cable, but it keeps saying unable to connect(no route to host). am i hooking it up right? i just plug in the cable from the xbox to the pc right? i keep reading threads about the pc files being on the left side of flashfxp, but mine always starts on the right side. do need to get a NIC too. any help would be greatly appreciated. i'm pretty sure i'm doing the ip addresses correctly. i tried looking on the tutorials but the only picture i see using the crossover cable has it going to a NIC then to the computer. do i need to buy a NIC before it will connect? thanks

We'd be happy to help with the FlashFXP end of connecting to your Xbox, but judging by past posts, noone here is familiar with the steps required in physically networking them.

(Correct me if I'm wrong)

thanks, i tried looking through those posts but it didn't seem to help. im just trying to see if i just need a crossover cable hooked up to the back of the pc, or if i need anything else. but thanks for the help

hey, i tried hooking up my xbox to my computer using a crossover cable. at first it kept saying unable to connect(no route to host). then after reading some threads and changing the ip's, i got it to say, (connection timed out). can anyone help me out with this problem? any suggestions would be great.
