hey all,
so ive managed to connect to my xbox, now works like a charm...

what im trying to do now is connect to my pc at home in another city, also connected to the net, to transfer my old files...

im trying to use my winxp administrator name and password to get through, but the connection always fails... of course i have the ip address from my old pc, filled in name and pass but i think there must be something else im not doing right...
any help would be great, ive also tried getting through with explorer, and dont want to get into windows networking just yet cos seems complicated...

FlashFXP is an FTP CLIENT, to transfer any files ftp client must connect to FTP SERVER.
from your description above it doesn't look like you are running ftp SERVER on another machine.
once you install and configure ftp SERVER you'll be able to use FlashFXP to transfer your files. look at any download sites for different ftp server software.
keep in mind that if you need help configuring ftp server, you'll have to contact that company.
also to avoid any problems ask your isp if you are allowed to run ftp server.

and what does your xbox have to do with the above issue?

karbycadet added that he was able to ftp to his xbox to show you that he knows how to ftp. karbycadet is very new to ftp, so be nice. Afterall, he is a customer.

karbycadet, try installing serv-u (http://www.serv-u.com) FTP Server. It is very easy to setup. Just make sure you read all the tutorials and FAQ sections. Also make sure the IP address that your trying to connect to does not start with 10.x.x.x, 172.16-32.x.x, 192.168.x.x or 127.0.0.1 if your trying to connect via the internet.

Good luck
