I currently use two web hosting companies.

I use ws_ftp successfully for ftping to both sites.

I thought FlashFXP would be ideal for ftping from one site to the other.

I can successfully log into both sites, but only one lists files.

I have attempted to log into just the one site and it logs in, displays a 'Listing directory' message and just sits there without displaying the directory contents!

Considering it works fine with another product and I want FlashFXP for host to host transfer, I find it very frustrating.

********** UPDATE ! ***************

If you're having problems listing directories like I did, try UNclicking Passive mode in options. Works fine !

yes.
enabling OR disabling passive mode will fix this problem in most cases.
some users must connect using passive mode.

damn it!

now when I attempt to transfer files between hosts, I get an error stating "500 illegal port command".

Weird thing is that it creates the new directories, just won't transfer the contents!

I tried setting options in site manager - it looks like flashfxp attempts passive and non passive if one doesn't work anyway.

The error "500 illegal port command" means the ftp server is not configured to allow site to site transfers..

When FlashFXP detects this error it will automatically attempt the opposite, either Alternative FXP or Normal FXP..

Directory names are not copied FlashFXP manually makes them, Only files are copied.

BTW most web hosting companies that offer shared servers do not allow site to site transfers. However if you are hosting on a deticated server you should have no problems getting the ftp server configuration changed to allow site to site transfers.

Thanks BigStar...

can I tell from the error which host (or both) are not configured for fxp?

If I can tell which one I can always at least request my host change their configuration.... do you have details on how to do this on the faq's?

Thanks and regards

Andrew.

if text in status window is green it's from site on the right
