I am puzzled by new behaviour that I am seeing with some of my favourite FTP servers. Maybe this is common knowledge but my quick research did not bring any good hits. So here goes....:
Problem is, some of my usual FTP servers now hang at the 'DIR' command. At the same time, 'LS' is working just fine.
Those are entered from the command line ftp. Looking at the client log (eg FlashFXP) it appears that LIST is always (?) issued, and it is actually the same as command line DIR? What is this difference here btw?
Some people have mentioned a 30sec timeout but I am not getting even that. Only 'LS' is working good.
Anybody in the know what is going on here? Unfortunately I do not have control or even knoledge of the ftp server or versions.
Or is there a setting somewhere in this client to specify different type of LIST?
