View Full Version : New way of opening up many instances of flashfxp?

I'm sure like everyone here. We get confused when 5 instances of flashfxp are open and minimized to the sys tray or task bar. Hoovering the mouse over it doesn't give us any help to identify it, just that a file is transfering. So is it possible to do it another way? For example, Opera has tabs instead of new windows for each web page. Can flashfxp have tabs for each instance and naming the tabs after the sites connected to? It's kinda hard to explain. . .or for some, to visualize. What do you think?

no, this would require a rewrite. However, why not use the option to show the site names when you hover?

for example %fsite to %tsite in before your speed variables.

Look at Total Commander 6.01, you can switch on tabbed interface if you like it (wich I have learned to do ;) ) or just keep it "old school" and simple. It´s just as you want it to be.
Why not let the user decide wich interface to use?

I would love the possibility to use a switchable tabbed interface, whenever i find it convinient.

once again, it's just about adding new tabs.
in order to accomplish this flashfxp needs to be completly rewritten to be multi-threaded.
this is on todo list with no ETA.

Well, it was more about the "either/or" of a tabbed interface!
The intention is pointing you to take a look at TC (by ghisler.com) wich let´s the user decide about "2TabOrNot2Tab" ;), after -4 sure- a patiently avaited never-know-when-and-if-2-happen major rewrite ;)

It was never my intention to start a cruel and work-promising thread about banned wishes, did I please you master MxxCon? ;)

i'm well aware of TC's capabilities as it is my permament replacement of windows shell.
there are no banned wishes(xcept onces that are obviously designed for warez).
however multi-threaded topic have been beaten like a dead horse..
like i said earlier, adding tabs is far more complicated than just updating gui to add tabs. majority of ffxp needs to be rewritten to support tabs/mult-threaded operations.
my reply was as such becuase this topic have been covered multiple times, and if you'd search msgboard you would find many threads with exactly same answer.

as for specific implementation of tabs or "containers" or something else, when time comes to that i'm sure BigStar will discuss this with users and will listen to everybody's input
