Hi there; I have just (a week or two) ago bought flashfxp, and downloaded b902 from the official website. But when I try to use autoupdate, it goes past connecting, verifying registration, and gets to retrieving information, then fails with:

Update failed

Error: Forbidden

I am behind a hardware firewall I have no control over; it restricts incoming attempts only afaik so it shouldnt be causing this. I have no problem connecting to ftp sites or the internet. Is there any way I can easily test if it is the firewall or some other problem?

I am using WinXP professional.

Is it simply because there are no updates? I can't believe this is what it means... surely there would be a more friendly message.

Thx for yr help in advance

If you use a program that hides/blocks the user-agent in the http request LiveUpdate will fail.

I searched the server logs and that appears to be what's happening.

<hostname> - - [01/Nov/2002:21:11:23 - 0600] "GET /LiveUpdate/verify.php<removed> HTTP/1.0" 403 291 "-" "Mozilla/4.0"

Programs such as ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security, etc have an option to block the user-agent.

I am using 902 but all over the net, it says 903 has been released. Check PM for a few links.

There is a build 903 but you don't need to upgrade. build 903 was released to address a small issue that came up that prevented some people from registering FlashFXP.

LiveUpdate is a registered user feature, if you've already registered FlashFXP successfully then you don't need the update.

No other changes were made.
