View Full Version : com1 folders...
I'm using FlashFXP 1.4 (build 800) on WindowsXP and I'm having problems or certain FTP sites. Every time I try to change directories into 'com1' I get this strange error '550 invalid function'. It won't let me change to that directory... I'm not behind a firewall and arent using a proxy... this is frustrating... I'd be very appreciative if somebody could shed a little light on this.
Thx.

Get the lastest beta (build 815) and see if it still is the case. Several WinXP issues has been resolved since build 800.

Com1 folders are only used in the warez world - the idea of using it is that n00bs cant get into a pub because without knowing the names of the folder after the com1 folder there is just no way to bypass it (well there is but we wont go into that here). :D

'550 invalid function' That's a ftp server error, not client.

A few issues here,
1) not all systems let you create com1 directories. :)
2) I didn't here anyone mention warez, i thought the question was valid. they were not asking how to make them just why ( because they were on the wrong os system ) why they could not make them.
3) What do you mean by the last reply?

3. Tounet probably included something that was inappropriate for this forum (as the topic indicated), so his post was censored.

dirs named with com1 and other device names is a problem with IIS server/Win32 only issue. i guess other smarter httpd like apache and zeus understand that issue do not allow creation of such dirs.
MS keep promising to address this problem but they yet to release hotfix..hopefully soon.

unless you know exact path you can not browse what's inside of that dir.
