A nice feature would be to have that option on a site-to-site basis.
Some sites I want to see the login message, but on most I don't.

Some sites I want to see the login message, but on most I don't. Uhm, I do not fully understand what you mean. You want it to display msg's from users to you, once you are logged in, in a window? Or do you want it to popup and ask for login information?

I'd like to see that option on a site-to-site basis instead of one overall on/off.

When you login to a site, the ftpd (usually) sends you a welcome message. That's what the option is for, to get that in the statuswindow or to have it pop up in its own window (so you can read it more easily).
