View Full Version : Ident & Networks
Hey there Basically here is my problem
i can connect to a site that uses ident fromt he main internet computer that we use as a server but my computer won't let me on...
220 Authorization Required
USER I.D.
331 Password required for blue.
PASS (hidden)
530 "*@ip.hiddden" is not valid for the account specified.
yet its all setup the same way as it is on the main internet computer...this makes me believe something is wrong with ident since it doesn't seem to be picking it up

First let me give you some background on the ident protocol (RFC 1413)
This is a connection based application on TCP. A server listens for TCP connections on TCP port 113 (decimal). Once a connection is established, the server reads a line of data which specifies the connection of interest. If it exists, the system dependent user identifier of the connection of interest is sent as the reply. The server may then either shut the connection down or it may continue to read/respond to multiple queries.
Now with that in mind. Ident is a server running within FlashFXP, to validate a connection the ftp server must be able to connect back to it, On a network this might not be possible. In which case you will need to setup an special ident server on the machine directly located on the internet.
so i would setup an ident server on the server/main internet machine...anyone recommend a prog for this?

superstar, map port 113 from your router into your machine you are trying to fxp with.

i forward the port 113 to ,example, 192.168.77.100 ?!?! i am using a linux router for that stuff...but what if 192.168.77.101 also wants to connect to that site...how do i configure that???
sorry for that stupid questions but on normal sites without AUTH TLS
i don't have any problem...

it has nothing to do with auth-tls..it has to do whether the site checks ident. You are going to have to install an ident daemon on your linux router if you want to do this
