Default io with software fw.

Is there anyone out there who run a ioFTPD with a software firewall like outpost, sygate or anything else and experience this problem.

From FlashFXP
Code:
[18:44:51] [R] PASV
[18:44:51] [R] 227 Entering Passive Mode (200,XXX,133,XXX,4,221)

[18:45:14] [R] RETR x.r09
[18:45:14] [R] Connected. Negotiating SSL session..
[18:45:14] [R] 150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for x.r09.
[18:45:14] [R] SSL negotiation successful...
[18:45:14] [R] SSL encrypted session using cipher RC4-MD5 (128 bits)
[18:45:16] Transferred: x.r09 14,31 MB in 2,13 seconds (6 893,4 KB/s)
I get alot of these errors where the transfere just stall for like 30sec. Damn anoying. Ive setup the activ port and data ports as it says in my ioftpd.ini config file. In my software firewall currently Outpost I dont get any logs that the firewall is blocking any ports.

Any help is much appreciated.

Are you sure the problem is caused by the firewall? Does ioFTPD work properly when the firewall is not running/installed?

I was running another firewall before (sygate) and I got the same problem. Back then I tryed many diffrent things and the ioFTPD worked perfectly when the fw was disabled, meaning it has to do something with the firewall. But I still doesnt get any support from the fw authors. No one seem to have these problems. And its weird that 2 maybe even 3 diffrent firewalls has same problem.

Just want to know if there is anyone here who run there ioFTPD with a software fw and if they have same problems as me or not.

Are you guys running Kerio Personal Firewall on the same box as your ioFTPD Server?

Iam also running Kerio Personal Firewall on my main computer but my ioftpd is on another box with Outpost Firewall.

Can you guys give me a little more info, that would help alot.

Thanks /odd

Both are on teh same machine and no special set-up, just grant ioFTPD access rights as you would with any other learning firewall.

What I was wondering about what M$ OS you run on the box where ioFTPD is located and what software-firewall is installed.

XP Pro (SP1 and SP2) and ioFTPD as a general KPF rule as one of the first rules. And both on the same machine but also with microsoft connection sharing on another machine it seems to work (in gateway mode with a second kpf on the other machine).

KPF, see above, and running that combi on a machine with xp pro sp1 and xp pro sp 2. Both working fine (well, 1 has issues but thats caused by NIC not firewall)

Maybe its an OS problem?

Iam running ioFTPD on two diffrent win2k3 boxes. Both use Outpost Firewall and both get the same problem.
Two diffrent ioFTPD setups (meaning not the same scripts and config file etc).

It sounds weird that an OS is causeing this. I will try to use Kerio Server firewall and see if the problem disappears. If not, the only way is to try another OS with KPF. btw how do you guys setup the rules in KPF? Do you setup packet-filter rules or just application rules?
