Exclamation ioFTPD Progress / Support

The web interface is coming along nicely and is done for the most part but the back end scripting is a work in progress. As the new core is developed and stabalized more of the interface can be completed. The problem we're working on now is that ioFTPD gets all of its setting upon initial loading. This means that if you make changes to the settings you have to restart ioFTPD. This obviously is a limitation so its being worked out in a new core and API. We hope to have a beta release available soon to start getting some feedback on the interface and functionality. The interface developer is taking a much needed vacation for the next couple weeks so there's no new progress until he is back.

Additionally, the support has been a little lax lately. We appologize for this. Support requests, purchases, and e-mail correspondence have been lacked proper responsiveness lately. We're working to offload support to IniCom's support people and just let D1 focus on the code. If you have any support related issues, please send them on to us at "support )at( inicom.net".

cool

one thing that caught me off guard is that you think that loading the settings from start is a limitation. site rehash takes care of that. i thought this was done to optimize speed so that it doesn't constantly check the file (or check timestamps to see if it was updated).

just 2 cents

It's not going to check the file. It's going to write to the file and adjust things up in memory during program execution. no rehashing, just runtime changes.

Default Hey

As far i know its often not needed to restart ioFTPD after made certain changes in the config file, but in some cases it is! like changing the scheduler that definitly needs a restart, also when added or changed certain scripts using with io it also needs a restart, etc.......It just depends what you did change

Do you people have no faith in the project? Do you really think we would put a bloated UI in io? Everyone will rejoice...trust me...httpd is your friend.

i have no idea what you would do, it's hard to tell when a 1-man project turns into a company-based project if they will maintain the original ideals. but i'm glad to hear you will

Any company that comes into a sucessful project that just needs support and tries to redo the whole thing is crazy. ioFTPD is an excellent piece of software that just needs help getting to the finish line. We have no intention of putting cooks into a quite capable kitchen. The biggest directional advice comes from those eating the meal. Please keep the ideas coming.

I did just that. I put forth some excellent directional advice today.

In fact I sent it to: support )at( inicom.net.

I also CC'd it to two other companies as well.

Hopefully it all turns out
