Default Some thought about the io-project

All large projects have their up's and down's, that's just the way it is due to the nature of man kind. According to me, the io-community is now sadly closing in on a minus peak. darkone packed his stuff and left, some great scripters has lost their motivation while others has moved on to other projects, no recent news about the progress of io aso.
It might be just me, but it feels like the project has come to halt again. I really admire panic for taking on a project of this size and at this point. But reading in on a program that's been coded this far takes a lot of time and I'm afraid that the wait for the new io (v1) will be too long for some. The project itself won't die out, but the progress is not that great, and don't take me wrong, I'm not complaining on panic, I admire him for taking on this task, I'm just trying to find a way for us end-users to give the project a push in the right direction.
Now I do not know the reason for d1 leaving and only a few chosen ones do I guess, him leaving might be due a personal matter that's better left untold. But if there is anything us end-users could do to get d1 to return to this project, at least I would be happy to do so. If it's a money matter, I'm even willing to contribute just to get this project back on it's feet (since face it, almost everything in this world is about money). Perhaps d1 and panic could work side-by-side on io when panic has read through all the code? just to even out the work and not put all the stress on one person.
Now this is all just a personal oppinion and I would like to thank you for taking your time to read this. Feel free to comment on this and perhaps someone of you has got a suggestion on how to get past this.

Best Regards,
T.L.

When was the last time someone tried to contact him? I'm sure inicom have his cellphone number somewhere, why not give him a call? I mean they must know something about his whereabouts, right?

the last time i tried e-mailing d1, he didn't respond. i can only really speculate as to why he disappeared, so please take this as such. looking at the v1 source code, compared to the 0.5.x source code, d1 has *just* gotten the main engine running, but hadn't added any of the protocol specific code.

in my own experience, he had finished the new and fun work, and was faced with the harder and longer task of porting the existing features of 0.5.x to this new framework. it was the perfect point to lose steam and lose interest. so that is what i think happened.

but i don't know any details of other stuff going on in his personal life. it is somewhat conceited to claim that we/this project are the cause of him going away. it is more probable that something more personal happened.

i wonder if anyone ever hears from him on irc?

I can't see that a person would disappear totally from all types of networks just like that. I've also had some speculation if perhaps d1 was facing something similar to what happened the last time he went away for a couple of months without any prior notice. This is all just speculations and we can't really say anything. Hemight also just have gotten a burnout from all the work with computers. Got a burnout from my work with computers about 1½ years ago aswell and took a break from everything conserning computers for half a year. only used computers for checking my mail every now and then. speculations are all we got I guess...

_panic_: Your speculation sounds like a possibility but I can't see why he would break all his connections to the outer world just because wanting some rest from the project. That's where I get lost in all this..

No matter how burned out you are its only common courtesy and very easily done to send a quick email stating sorry, burnt out, need a break, not up for discussion.
To just dissapear without any word whatsoever is pretty low and unless he has some compelling reason (not excuse, actual reason) I think his image has dropped an hella lot in a lot of peoples books.
