Default ioftpd and ipv6
prob a stupid question but can ioftpd handle ipv6 connections ? or it that just down to the network setup

Nope. The standard FTP protocol itself doesn't support ipv6. For instance how do you specify the address in the PORT command or PASV reply? There's an RFC out there with a new command for specifying IPv6 addresses, but I'm not sure anybody actually implemented it and doubtful clients have either...
